An industry insider has revealed new details on the next Battlefield game, revealing vital information on the shooter's maps, weapons, and the year in which the game is expected to take place. Battlefield publisher EA finally gave a glimpse at the series' next entry on September 16 with a singular piece of concept art, stating that the title would take place in a modern setting. In a new interview with IGN, Respawn Entertainment founder and Vice President of EA Vince Zampella confirmed that the next Battlefield game will feature a modern setting, similar to that of Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. Zampella also revealed that the shooter, which currently doesn't have a confirmed title, will go back to basics with 64 players per map. After Battlefield 2042 attempted to beef things up with 128-player maps, the studio went on to revert the massive number of players after fan backlash. Zampella now says he'd rather have "dense, really nice, well-designed play spaces."While Zampella did give a peak into the future of the Battlefield series, industry insider Tom Henderson has revealed exclusive details on the next entry via InsiderGaming. According to Henderson, sources close to the project have revealed that the first-person shooter will take place somewhere between 2027 and 2030, which aligns with Zampella's confirmation that the next Battlefield will take place in a more modern setting. It's also claimed that there will be 45 different weapons available at launch, which is double that of its predecessor, Battlefield 2042. As for maps, EA is supposedly aiming for around 10 multiplayer maps at launch
