Deadbolt Interactive has announced its survival and psychological horror game, Pneumata, will make its way to PC, PS5 and the Xbox X/S series on September 20. Originally set for release in August, developer Deadbolt Interactive and publisher Perp Games delayed Pneumata for a few weeks so that some final tweaks could be made. This month, survival horror fans will be able to experience everything the game has to offer, which includes scavenging for weapons and supplies, examining crime scenes, and solving gruesome murders.

The horror genre is now one of the most popular and replayed game categories among players, with long-running series still going strong today. Even though some players may consider Resident Evil to be the first survival horror game, others have come before it, like Sweet Home for the Famicom, a game that Resident Evil was originally intended to be a remake of. Describing itself as "one of the scariest psychological horrors in years," Pneumata hopes to put its own spin on the survival horror genre. In the brand-new survival horror game, players will explore an island where its residents have gone missing among the hallways of Clover Hill house. Stepping into the shoes of a detective, survival horror fans will endeavor to uncover the truth about its tenants by using the detective's fragmented memories, as well as compiling evidence in order to solve a series of hideous murders. As spooky season is right around the corner, Pneumata sounds like it would make the perfect scary setting to play on Halloween.Just like the horror genre, psychological horror games have seen a huge increase in quality over the years as technological advances have allowed developers to create truly immersive experiences for players. Although Pneumata sounds like it will be something that horror lovers can really sink their teeth into, it's not the only upcoming scary game that could pack a punch. Silent Hill 2 Remake and Slitterhead are set to launch in October and November, respectively, giving players of the genre plenty to look forward to before 2024 is over.
